Girl Chat: Hair Care
for Girl Chat
How has another month flown by?
It’s time for another edition of Girl Chat and this month’s topic is hair products.
Ok, so it’s no secret that my long locks are thanks to extensions that I got back in April.
I have individual strands so no bonding or glue or sewing.
I love them for the most part.
And the best part is, I just continue to use my normal hair care routine.
First, I am a firm believer in less is more when it comes to washing.
I wash my hair twice a week (maybe 3 if I swim).
Yup, just twice.
Normally after my Sunday run and then again Wednesday evening.
The rest of the week I’m living on dry shampoo (Batiste for blondes). So, what else do I use?
I wrote about this a couple months ago, but I am currently using
. Yup, I use a MLM hair care system.
First, its sulphate and paraben free, which I have to have for my extensions, and second, I need shampoo so why not support a
I use the Monat Black for my first wash and then the Revitalize for my second.
Then, since I only wash twice a week I use a deep conditioning mask. Here are the two I alternate between:
Then I condition.
Yes, I know I just said I deep condition, but then I use a conditioner to lock it all in.
And then I always rinse one last time with cold water.
This seals the cuticles back up and helps with shine.
Out of the shower, I use several products.
for my roots.
Despite the extensions, I still have thin fine hair and if I do not plump it up, its flat as a pancake.
Then, I use Monat leave-in conditioner.
It just add some extra care.
Then I use a detangler and wide-tooth comb to comb it out.
So, for the actual care of my extensions, its best to air dry.
However, since I do have thin fine hair, I always dry the crown of my hair with a hairdryer.
Speaking of which… I just invested in a new hairdryer and went with the
I also got a Babyliss straightener.
Ya’ll, I got it as a packaged deal at Marshall’s.
They actually have some good finds if you look and grab them.
The hair dryer is a godsend.
Dries quickly and no frizzies.
Everyone should invest in a good hairdryer.
I also use a curling iron for when I want to add curl.
I am pretty sure its an old Conair from a gazillion years ago… I should get a new one. It’s a 1 ½ inch barrel. I have a Tyme iron and just cannot get the hang of it, so if anyone wants it…. Let me know.
As far as brushes go, I have
that is combo bristles.
I got it at Ulta and swear by it.
Ok and last, but not least--hairspray! I spray some in my brush and then into my hair. I also use a tad to hold curls.
Make sure you let your curls cool down before you mess with them or they will lose the curl. I use Big Sexy Hair Spray & Play.
Oh and FYI,
And that is it!
I cannot wait to see what products everyone else uses for hair care!
